Tourism is an important economic activity in the European Union (EU). Also, tourism has great potential as regards contributing to the achievement of several major EU objectives, such as sustainable development, economic growth, employment and economic and social cohesion. Rural tourism is a service sector with a particularly complex product which depends on an extremely fragmented supply. Each link in the chain (travel agencies, tour operators, carriers, hoteliers, restaurateurs, etc.) offers one element in the overall product. Together, these components determine tourists' experiences and their appreciation of the quality of the service.

Travel and Tourism as one of the world&rsquo;s highest priority industries have an important economic impact on the global as well as on the local level. Information is the crucial factor for tourists while planning, booking and being on vacation as well as sometimes after their trip. The nature of tourism and its products makes tourism an information intensive business. These issues lead to the insight that tourism belongs to the industries most affected by the rapid changes in technology during the last two decades. The important role of information explains the importance of Information Technology (IT) applications in tourism. The Internet can be seen as one of the most influential technologies that change traveller&rsquo;s behaviour. While the number of Internet users increases and is reported to have reached 957 Mio. (IWS, 2005), the diffusion of information technology has improved travel service supply in efficiency, quality and flexibility. As a result, the ability to accurately measure consumer online satisfaction and experiences to constantly meet consumer&rsquo;s needs and to develop customized online marketing strategies will be essential for improving online service quality.

The restructuring the global economy is the main factor of which depend the future of sustainable development, major changes being needed in the human behavior, in the system of values and life style. In order to raise people&rsquo;s sensitivity regarding the importance of constructing ties between natures and cultures, between different cultures the world, cultural and natural heritage must be used as efficient as possible. The second part of this paper refers to a study made on tourism in Bucovina region. This case study may be considered a useful instrument for identifying malfunction in the touristic sector in the south of Bucovina region, in order to supply all necessary information for further development strategies and policies in the field. The statistics in tourism is used in the study of the most stable features of touristic activity behaviour. This study will allow the configuration of a general outlook, which is necessary in order to take the best decisions when it comes to elaborating forecasts in the field.

GLOBALIZATION IN TOURISM SECTOR fierbinte!
The paper points to recent developments in the tourism sector and highlights factors driving the internationalization of tourists travel and of tourism services, including information technologies, as well as the internationalization of hotel and tourism enterprises. Without neglecting the huge subsector of small and medium-sized enterprises, it describes typical features related to the composition of the labour force and to working conditions. It raises questions concerning the difficulties faced by the sector in attracting and retaining skilled workers in enhancing the skills of newcomers to the labour market in order to stabilize the sector&rsquo;s labour force, while increasing the productivity of enterprises and the quality of services. Particular emphasis is put on new forms of management entailing new skills requirements, with a general tendency towards increased worker responsibility in an environment of flat hierarchies, multiskilling and teamwork.

Worldwide, employment within the tourism economy is estimatedat192.2million jobs (one in every 12.4 jobs in the formal sector). By 2010, thisshouldgrowto 251.6 million jobs (one in every 11 formal sector jobs). This includes employment created by fixed capital formation activities and by providers tothetourismindustry. Direct employment for tourist consumption amounts to about 3 per centof total employment worldwide.
